How subcontracting works with us

  1. You send your details

Where you are based, how far you travel, what roles you can fill, what equipment you own, and how you normally price work.

  2. We check and file them

Licences and certificates are verified against the public record. Everything else goes on file so we can find you when a project fits.

  3. A project matches, and we call

Each engagement is its own written subcontract with its own scope, schedule and terms. Nothing here commits either side to anything.

Tell us what you do

Everything marked optional can wait. We keep your details on file and get in touch when a project matches what you do and where you work.

The work is in Florida. If you are based just over the state line and cover the Panhandle, say so below — that is useful to know.

Where you work
What you do
Roles you can fill
What you own
Equipment you own
Deliverable formats you produce (Optional)
Availability and how you price
How you price your work

Sent privately to us and never published. Every project is priced individually, so nothing here is treated as a fixed rate — it just tells us how you normally work.

Insurance, safety and references

All optional at this stage. We ask now so we know what would need to be in place before a first job, not to screen you out today.

Site certifications you hold (Optional)

FDOT, port, utility and school sites will not admit a crew without some of these.

Never send a Social Security number, date of birth, driver's licence number or bank details through this form. Those belong in signed paperwork after a subcontract, not on a web page.

Certificate of insurance, a sample drawing or scan, a W-9. Up to 3 files, 4 MB each — PDF, JPG, PNG or TIFF.

Questions from subcontractors

What kinds of survey work does Apex subcontract?
Field crew work — party chief, instrument operator, rodman — and office work such as survey CAD and drafting, scan registration and point-cloud processing, across Florida's 67 counties. It is overflow on projects Apex has already been awarded, not speculative work.
Is this employment?
No. Subcontractors are independent contractors, engaged under a separate written subcontract for a specific scope. This page carries no vacancies, no set hours and no benefits, and submitting the form is not an application for a job.
Does a survey subcontractor get a 1099?
Independent contractors are responsible for their own tax reporting, and a payer generally issues a Form 1099-NEC where the rules require one. Apex does not give tax advice — check your own position with a qualified accountant.
What does subcontract survey work pay?
Apex does not publish rates. Compensation is agreed for each engagement and depends on the scope, the location, how long it takes, the role, and whose equipment is used. The form asks how you normally price work so that conversation starts from your basis rather than an assumption.
Do I need a surveying licence?
For most of these roles, no. Survey work performed for Apex is carried out under the responsible charge and direct supervision of an Apex Professional Surveyor and Mapper unless something else is agreed in writing. A PSM licence is only needed if you would be in responsible charge yourself.
Do I need my own equipment?
Not necessarily. Owning instruments changes which roles fit you and how an engagement is priced, but "none — would use Apex equipment" is a genuine answer on the form and is not a disqualifier.
