Field work is only part of the survey process. Before visiting your property, surveyors research deeds, plats, and title documents at the county recorder's office. After field work, the office phase includes calculations, drafting the survey plat, quality review, and certification by a licensed Professional Surveyor. This research and drafting phase typically takes longer than the field visit.

Common delay factors include: incomplete or conflicting property records, dense vegetation requiring clearing, boundary disputes requiring additional research, rainy season field conditions, county permit office backlogs, and missing or disturbed survey monuments that need recovery.
